This page is dedicated to our continuing video blog series from the studio. Recording the tracks at Happyland Studio in Waterville, Ohio, this will give you an inside look, and a few laughs, of our recording sessions for the new CD.
Recording the new CD-Part 8
"Recording The New CD" Part 7
Rick returns to Happyland Studio with Producer Jason Kuehn in tow to begin the lead vocal recording on the first batch of songs. We had a lot of fun and Jay was in rare form. Enjoy.
"Recording The New CD" Part 6
For the first time, Rick was unable to attend a recording session, So Julie and Jay work on the keyboard tracks while Vic shoots the video. Enjoy!
"Recording The New CD" Part 5
Robert and I returned to Jay's home studio in Detroit to finish off the tracks we started last time. Singer/songwriter Chris McCall makes a visit (well, she does live there) and Producer Jason Kuehn impresses with his penny whistle.
"Recording The New CD" Part 4
Part 4 This time I traveled up to Detroit (Thanks, Randy) to record Robert Tye's guitar tracks at producer Jason Kuehn's home studio. We had a great time and I know you'll be impressed with his mad skills on guitar. You can really hear the songs coming together.
"Recording The New CD" Part 3
Chapter 3 Now that the bass and drums have been laid down, Rick goes in to lay some acoustic guitar tracks to fill out the rythmn section. Maybe it's time to say that all of these blogs were shot simply by setting up a laptop and just shooting what's in front. Given the low lighting in studios (we musicians like it that way) the video quality is NOT great. Do not adjust your monitors.
"Recording The New CD" Part 2
Chapter 2 Bassist Lou Wysocki works on his tracks. Putting together a record is a lot of work, well, that is if you want to do it right. It takes a lot of stops and starts, listening, doing it again, listening, fixing a note or two, and then you get a new idea. And so it goes, the never ending quest for tone.
"Recording The New CD" Part 1
The first chapter in our Vcast documenting the recording sessions for the new Rick Nease Band CD. Recorded at Happyland Studios in Waterville, Ohio. We hope you enjoy these and come back often for new chapters as you follow along to see if we can pull this off!
