Super-solid pop-rock outing from a Toledo quintet who’ve memorized more melodies than five other bands will ever know. Some members look to be north of forty but pages on a calendar don’t always reduce levels of exuberance.
Leading off with “Radio,” Fall On Me” and “Tennessee,” this self-titled debut booms out of your speakers with sneakily infectious guitar lines, bass loops and keyboard lines. Singer/guitarist Rick Nease has a crisp, clear voice that works wonders with these tales of love gone wrong. The band – which numbers guitarist Richard Lange, Bassist Jim Foltz, Keyboardist Dan Schroeder and drummer Bill Lenhart – know a thing or twelve about building an atmosphere to house their creations.
At times you might hear Steely Dan, at times the poppier side of Eric Clapton, but throughout you hear an impressively-structured Midwest rock hybrid that’s impressive without feeling the need to show off.
