1. Radio Play
Radio
Radio        music: BadMonkey   lyric: R Nease

There's life beyond the barroom
there's life beyond these walls
you’ve got a long way to go
if you’re not coming back at all

Can’t you hear it calling, calling your name
break out a whip, this beast is hard to tame

Playing all the right clubs
still not getting very much
away from all that’s familiar
feeling out of touch

Can’t you hear it calling, calling your name
break out a whip, this beast is hard to tame

There’s life beyond this barstool
life beyond these walls
we made so much fun of you
now you’re hanging on this wall

Can’t you hear it calling, calling your name
break out a whip, this beast is hard to tame
They put us down with chains of worry
get out of town, in a hurry
they come and they go
he wants to be on the radio
wants to be on the radio

Radio, he wants to be
Radio, he wants to be
Radio, he wants to be
Radio, he wants, he wants, he wants

2. Fall On Me Play
Fall On Me
Fall On Me     music and lyric: R Nease

You come around,
like a tidal wave bouncing me off to the sea
and you come around, it’s a mystery
I know what you mean to me,
what you said to me, in the afternoon
Out of reach, in the November sun

Fall on me, warm me with those eyes
Oh, it’s cold outside
Fall on me, instead you run away
It’s so very clear to you

Now there’s state lines and circumstance
I don’t know if it’s right but I’ll take that chance
Distant hunger on a voice across the phone
Bury me in the arms of the moment
Cover me in the night without warning

Fall on me, every time I make amends
every night I’m too intense
Fall on me, the spaces in between
It’s so very clear to you

You pick up your coffee and you said your goodbye
you said you’d make it, make it if you had the time
No strings attached and you asked if I mind
Oh it’s more, it’s more than just a good time

I’ve got the bad imagination
red, strange hallucinations,
but I’m normal from time to time
My face looks like a victim
you know a smile can trick them
but is that murder on your mind?

Fall on me, every time I make amends
every night I’m too intense
Fall on me, the spaces in between
It’s so very clear to you

3. Tennessee Play
Tennessee
Tennessee     music: BadMonkey   lyric: R Nease

He stood alone
pounding his fist to the subway clatter
He held her note
the one that said that nothing ever really mattered
She said she was tired
Said she had enough
she said she was leaving
so she packed her bags and moved to Tennessee

He sat on the floor
wiped away the bitter news from his eyes
he knew inside
his heart beating like a locomotive burning fire
She took all the records
She took all the books
She took all the answers
and she packed her bags and moved to Tennessee

She rides at night
she’s in a hurry but she she doesn’t know where to go
She knew inside
he wasn’t gonna hit her anymore
Her wheels are flying
the stars in her eyes
She hasn’t stopped smiling
since she packed her bags and moved to Tennessee

4. Hides Her Heart Play
Hides Her Heart
Hide Her Heart    music and lyric: R Nease

There is no madness, there is no folly
it takes money to win a small embrace
It comes to sadness and it comes to ‘sorry’
there you are, lost in your disgrace

Oh no, she’s got you standing outside
you’re going out of your mind
Oh no, you thought she’d listen to you
she’s got you waiting on her, can’t believe it

Oh she hides her heart she hides it on you
Oh she hides her heart she hides it on you

Sweet love and affection can’t be found on the run
wait with me tonight til the morning comes
poetry is lost on your breath
‘I don’t know why you don’t love me’
and you tell him he’s boring you to death

Oh no, he’s back and singing outside
he lost his car keys in the lawn
Oh no, she’s watching from the inside
her smile as small as the light from her bedroom

Oh she hides her heart she hides it on you
Oh she hides her heart she hides it on you

5. Broadcast Doors Play
Broadcast Doors
Broadcast Doors    music: BadMonkey   lyric: R Nease

The way that you look with burning hunger
The way of the world, will it last much longer
I give it all to you, yea I’ll give it all to you

Stand on your shoulders
make it so high, that I can’t stand much longer
I give it all to you and the population blues

And you heard that Washington’s gonna get you
And you heard that Moscow’s on your side
and you don’t know,
you don’t know who to believe any more
oh they lock you behind broadcast doors

One man, he says something
and another one, says you got it all wrong
what you gonna do, TV’s on the news

You bring to the screen, color and music
bleed on the screen so my children can use it
what you gonna do, when your TV’s on the news

And you heard that Washington’s gonna get you
And you heard that Beijing’s on your side
and you don’t know,
you don’t know who to believe any more
oh they lock you behind broadcast doors

And you heard that Washington’s gonna get you
And you heard that Moscow’s on your side
and you don’t know,
you don’t know who to believe any more
oh they lock you behind broadcast doors

6. Love Letter From Hell Play
Love Letter From Hell
Love Letter From Hell   music and lyric: R Nease

You left a note on the bar, hey
I think you went too far, now hey
You said you loved me and that your love was true
you said you need me but I won’t be there for you
and you get down on your knees

Why does it haunt you, you’re just wasting your time
hide away in your blues
I’m getting nowhere, I can tell
from this love letter from hell

We went out on a date, OK, maybe it was twice
I thought you were all right, yeah, I thought you were kind of nice
But I’ll tell you the thrill wasn’t there and you took it with such desperation and despair
You cut your long blonde hair, now didn’t you
and you get down on your knees

Why does it haunt you,
you’re just wasting your time
hide away in your blues
I’m getting nowhere, I can tell
from this love letter from hell

I wish I’d break your heart, I wish I’d make you cry
but I don’t want to hurt you or make you live a lie
I wish the sun would warm your soul
I wish you knew the meaning of no
and I’ll get down on my knees

Why does it haunt you,
you’re just wasting your time
hide away in your blues
I’m getting nowhere, I can tell
from this love letter from hell

7. I-75 Play
I-75
I-75    music: BadMonkey   lyric: R Nease

I kissed my wife and kids goodbye
crawled inside my car
headed for the highway
gonna take a drive on 75
There’s a policeman on the side of the road
pointing his ray gun at me
I’m alright, I’m cruising fine
won’t take a dive on 75

Make my way up to Detroit
rebounding to motown
won’t do the orange barrel slide
gonna be all right on 75
There’s a man on the side of the road
looking down at his Ford
took a chance and he went too far
took a dive on 75

I wish this road was a tidal wave
bouncing me off to the sea
how I get around, its a mystery
fall with me, look into my life

It’s a world within a world
It’s a goddamn carnival on wheels
floating mindless between the lines
take a ride on 75
gonna be alright on 75

8. Real Love Play
Real Love
Real Love   music: BadMonkey   lyric: R Nease

I don’t want you
I don’t need you any more
I saw you kissing him right in front of your door
My heart is aching, I feel like breaking your heart like mine
I look up at the ceiling every night smoking cigarettes
and tracing the light

I gave my best, I gave it all
It wasn’t what you were looking for
I drove my car out the driveway

Looking for real love
I’m looking for it every night
Real love
I’ll settle for it back
Real Love
you never gave me a chance
Real Love
I kept my distance and lost the night

So I walk alone alone
I walk with my shoes untied
I look up at the rain like Jack Kerouac
how it shines in the night
I listen to Sinatra cause he understands my place
I don’t want you, I don’t need you in my face

I’m stronger than I thought
I’m alive in my head
I drove my car out the driveway

Looking for real love
I’m looking for it every night
Real love
I’ll settle for it back
Real Love
you never gave me a chance
Real Love
I kept my distance and lost the night

9. Woman In Love Play
Woman In Love
Woman In Love    music and  lyric: R Nease

Well you’d like me to lie
And I’m not a saint
borrowed real life
raised up in hate
I covered the ocean and
I bounced off the sky
a grab for honor, it’s do or die

When the hurt is over
and the hunt is on
lie with your lover
jungle-mating on the lawn
I’ll carry a sign, bring my credit card
politics aside, why you work so hard

Climb aboard your lost pretender
oh you haven’t got a clue
afraid of love what’s the worry
there’s nothing wrong with you
you’re a woman in love

So maybe you’re happy with this mystery plan
lie with your lover and then another man
I guess its over now
your word was good somehow
take that good thing home with you

Climb aboard your lost pretender
oh you haven’t got a clue
afraid of love what’s the worry
there’s nothing wrong with you
you’re a woman in love
woman in love
woman in love
woman in love

10. Coming Down Play
Coming Down
Coming Down   music BadMonkey    lyric: R Nease

There’s a lot of little things
running around in his crazy head
Why Lucy never understood a thing her husband said
All alone in his living room
TV’s staring him down
Fell asleep in a leather chair
dreams she’s coming down

An overcoat and some tennis shoes
a nickel bag just to shake the blues
He wants to live, he wants to dance
looking pretty cool in his baggy pants
There’s a place where the water ends
Fell asleep in his leather chair,
dreams she’s coming down

The moon’s in his eyes, hides at his demise
looks for her, she's walking across town

She ran to him like a raging storm
his feelings just a little torn
and John wants to hold your hand
on the radio
All alone in his living room
TV’s staring him down
Fell asleep in his leather chair
dreams she’s coming down

Coming down
baby don’t you wake him up
coming down
baby don’t you hang him up
coming down
baby don’t you crank it up
coming down
baby don’t you wake him up

11. So Much More Play
So Much More
So Much More   music and lyric: R Nease

I walked into this barroom
every one I knew was there
my chair was waiting
I was putting on my stare
the one that says don’t bother me
the one that says don’t do me wrong
knocking back a whiskey to a Hank Williams song

I once thought I knew much, so much more
so I never dreamed
Now I know there is so much, so much more
that I haven’t seen
I haven’t seen

So I’m thinking ‘bout my missing days
spent inside this dark saloon
pull out photos of my reckless child I took last June
Now I’m not allowed to see him
even though I love him so
I’ve spent way too much time living so low

I once thought I knew much, so much more
so I never dreamed
Now I know there is so much, so much more
that I haven’t seen
I haven’t seen

It’s 2 o’clock and time to go
I pick my coat up off the floor
but I’ll return
to this familiar door

I once thought I knew much, so much more
so I never dreamed
Now I know there is so much, so much more
that I haven’t seen
I haven’t seen

12. Strange Life Play Download
Strange Life
Credits
Lyric: R Nease, Music: R Nease, R Lange
Notes
This track never made the CD and has never been available until now. "Strange Life" is about frustration at the ironies in life. It features my favorite lead guitar moment from Richard Lange. But there were moments in the B section that bothered me, so we dropped it from the CD. What makes this track interesting is that I took a few of my favorite lines from it and used the in "Seriously" which went on to be much more successful. "Strange Life" offered to you a free download
Info

"Layering it's organic rock n' roll with a popsmith's sense of melody, BadMonkey finds there's still room for smart music."
