<>Working with Jason Kuehn, who produced my previous CD, BadMonkey, was such a joy, I decided to fully produce some new songs and release them as an EP. Jay was working for Studio 7 in St. Clair Shores, so we began recording there. I was able to pull together a studio band that included E.J. on bass and backup vocals, Robert Tye (Detroit Symphony Orchestra, Liz Larin Band, Detroit jazz legend) on lead guitars, Vic Spicer from Detroit's "The Howards" and "The Chris McCall band" on drums along with Jay who handled the keys. And on the track, "Hurt You", Stewart Francke ( who over the last few years has won numerous Detroit Music Awards, including Best Artist, Best Songwriter, Best Album) sang backup vocals, helping me to craft a very satisfying pop song. The end result with this talented bunch is my finest recorded effort to date.
Like many of my songs, they deal with the human element in love and life and the effect our decisions have in our relationships. "Back to Me" is about a woman who wants to get back together with her boyfriend after a bad breakup. "Moments" is about our love of celebrity and the effect it has on privacy. "Try" is how fear can hold someone back from love. "Decide"; is about a couple that breaks up and gets back together again a lot. "Seriously" is about how a friend can save someone from his own personal demons. "Hurt You" is about the love a man has for his wife and his commitment to protecting her.
Thus we have "Love & Consequence." A personal take on the ups and downs of passion, pride and relationships. I am so proud of these songs and the way that these tracks turned out. I sincerely hope that you enjoy them half as much as I did recording them

Moment Words/music-R Nease Broken glass, I’m bleeding Not enough to know I’m needing Time to think about it all You looked downtown Near the place where I used to play For beers and dream of living high I could, go to Hell for all you knew Taking pictures You think that makes you cool You never took it back You gave me a heart attack Your camera captures these moments Covered in moments You can serve a master Or find your own way through the things that get inside your mind You can follow someone Who will tell you what to do With all your time and money spent I could, be damned For acting like a fool Taking pictures You think that makes you cool You never took it back You gave me a heart attack Your camera captures these moments Covered in moments Capture a moment Covered in moments Capture a moment Covered in moments You never took it back You gave me a heart attack Your camera captures these moments Covered in moments |

Radio music: BadMonkey lyric: R Nease There's life beyond the barroom there's life beyond these walls you’ve got a long way to go if you’re not coming back at all Can’t you hear it calling, calling your name break out a whip, this beast is hard to tame Playing all the right clubs still not getting very much away from all that’s familiar feeling out of touch Can’t you hear it calling, calling your name break out a whip, this beast is hard to tame There’s life beyond this barstool life beyond these walls we made so much fun of you now you’re hanging on this wall Can’t you hear it calling, calling your name break out a whip, this beast is hard to tame They put us down with chains of worry get out of town, in a hurry they come and they go he wants to be on the radio wants to be on the radio Radio, he wants to be Radio, he wants to be Radio, he wants to be Radio, he wants, he wants, he wants |

Fall On Me music and lyric: R Nease You come around, like a tidal wave bouncing me off to the sea and you come around, it’s a mystery I know what you mean to me, what you said to me, in the afternoon Out of reach, in the November sun Fall on me, warm me with those eyes Oh, it’s cold outside Fall on me, instead you run away It’s so very clear to you Now there’s state lines and circumstance I don’t know if it’s right but I’ll take that chance Distant hunger on a voice across the phone Bury me in the arms of the moment Cover me in the night without warning Fall on me, every time I make amends every night I’m too intense Fall on me, the spaces in between It’s so very clear to you You pick up your coffee and you said your goodbye you said you’d make it, make it if you had the time No strings attached and you asked if I mind Oh it’s more, it’s more than just a good time I’ve got the bad imagination red, strange hallucinations, but I’m normal from time to time My face looks like a victim you know a smile can trick them but is that murder on your mind? Fall on me, every time I make amends every night I’m too intense Fall on me, the spaces in between It’s so very clear to you |

Tennessee music: BadMonkey lyric: R Nease He stood alone pounding his fist to the subway clatter He held her note the one that said that nothing ever really mattered She said she was tired Said she had enough she said she was leaving so she packed her bags and moved to Tennessee He sat on the floor wiped away the bitter news from his eyes he knew inside his heart beating like a locomotive burning fire She took all the records She took all the books She took all the answers and she packed her bags and moved to Tennessee She rides at night she’s in a hurry but she she doesn’t know where to go She knew inside he wasn’t gonna hit her anymore Her wheels are flying the stars in her eyes She hasn’t stopped smiling since she packed her bags and moved to Tennessee |

Hide Her Heart music and lyric: R Nease There is no madness, there is no folly it takes money to win a small embrace It comes to sadness and it comes to ‘sorry’ there you are, lost in your disgrace Oh no, she’s got you standing outside you’re going out of your mind Oh no, you thought she’d listen to you she’s got you waiting on her, can’t believe it Oh she hides her heart she hides it on you Oh she hides her heart she hides it on you Sweet love and affection can’t be found on the run wait with me tonight til the morning comes poetry is lost on your breath ‘I don’t know why you don’t love me’ and you tell him he’s boring you to death Oh no, he’s back and singing outside he lost his car keys in the lawn Oh no, she’s watching from the inside her smile as small as the light from her bedroom Oh she hides her heart she hides it on you Oh she hides her heart she hides it on you |

Coming Down music BadMonkey lyric: R Nease There’s a lot of little things running around in his crazy head Why Lucy never understood a thing her husband said All alone in his living room TV’s staring him down Fell asleep in a leather chair dreams she’s coming down An overcoat and some tennis shoes a nickel bag just to shake the blues He wants to live, he wants to dance looking pretty cool in his baggy pants There’s a place where the water ends Fell asleep in his leather chair, dreams she’s coming down The moon’s in his eyes, hides at his demise looks for her, she's walking across town She ran to him like a raging storm his feelings just a little torn and John wants to hold your hand on the radio All alone in his living room TV’s staring him down Fell asleep in his leather chair dreams she’s coming down Coming down baby don’t you wake him up coming down baby don’t you hang him up coming down baby don’t you crank it up coming down baby don’t you wake him up |

So Much More music and lyric: R Nease I walked into this barroom every one I knew was there my chair was waiting I was putting on my stare the one that says don’t bother me the one that says don’t do me wrong knocking back a whiskey to a Hank Williams song I once thought I knew much, so much more so I never dreamed Now I know there is so much, so much more that I haven’t seen I haven’t seen So I’m thinking ‘bout my missing days spent inside this dark saloon pull out photos of my reckless child I took last June Now I’m not allowed to see him even though I love him so I’ve spent way too much time living so low I once thought I knew much, so much more so I never dreamed Now I know there is so much, so much more that I haven’t seen I haven’t seen It’s 2 o’clock and time to go I pick my coat up off the floor but I’ll return to this familiar door I once thought I knew much, so much more so I never dreamed Now I know there is so much, so much more that I haven’t seen I haven’t seen |

This track never made the CD and has never been available until now. "Strange Life" is about frustration at the ironies in life. It features my favorite lead guitar moment from Richard Lange. But there were moments in the B section that bothered me, so we dropped it from the CD. What makes this track interesting is that I took a few of my favorite lines from it and used the in "Seriously" which went on to be much more successful. "Strange Life" offered to you a free download |
"Layering it's organic rock n' roll with a popsmith's sense of melody, BadMonkey finds there's still room for smart music."

composer Robert Tye, you are struck by the cool,
crisp lines of well written and beautifully rendered
compositions. You see that the outside art of his
new CD, "Living," is in black and white, but the inside
is ablaze with color and excitement. In a similar way,
the music shows a deep respect for the jazz
tradition on the outside, yet bursts with fresh
ideas, like the soundtrack to an ultra-hip party.
This is the music of Robert Tye.
